Ladies Auxiliary

Hello Ladies:

The summer is almost over and the fall weather is almost here.  With fall comes the start of our busy season.

There are lots of things going on at the post and I hope you will take a bit of time out of your schedules to come and catch up with your fellow members. We will have Meat Bingo on the 10th.  It’s a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.  Lots of fun and great food to win!!

On September 12th is our regular monthly meeting.  We will be starting the plans for the rest of this year.  We have lots to discuss, from the Halloween Party, all the way to the Children’s Christmas Party and lots of things in between!  Please join us and bring your ideas!!  The meeting starts promptly at 7pm and only lasts for an hour.

September 17th is Tony’s BBQ Dinner.  Commander, Tony Gall, will be serving up his great bbq with all the fixings!  All for only $6.00.  This is great way to support your post.

September also brings new key cards.  You must be prepared to show your membership card to purchase your new key card.  Key cards are $1.00 each.  Be sure to use your key card each time you come to the post.  If you do not use your key card, the cost to have the bartender unlock the door for you will be $1.00.  We are a private organization with membership restrictions and these rules are in place to assure our members comfort and safety.  While the AMVETS renewals are due September 1st, the Auxiliary continues to renew on January 1st each year.

I look forward to seeing you at our meeting.

Yours in Service

Paula Heinrich

Supplies are collected for local elementary schools and donated to each school for distribution as needed.  Cash donations are converted to gift cards and donated to individual families to help defray the cost of purchasing needed school supplies.

Each year two needy families are chosen from the community.  One family is given a Basket for Thanksgiving and the other is given a Basket for Christmas.  Each basket contains a complete holiday dinner and with luck lots of left overs!  Our goal is to provide each basket with either a turkey or ham and all the fixings!

Additionally, we provide support and food for a free dinner at our post for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.

We raise enough donations to provide 25 to 35 children from our community with a Christmas Party.  Lunch is provided including cookies and crafts are made.  Each child receives a goody bag with treats to take home as well as a visit from Santa.  Santa gives each child a wrapped gift and a stuffed animal.

Provide support to members of our community who are in need.  Support our local soup kitchens and local clothing drives.

Provide support to local schools for items not covered under the budgets.  Each teacher needs items such as batteries, headphones etc.  These items are not always covered in their classroom.

Each year we raise funds to provide a Scholarship to a local school or child.  Our goal each year is to raise at least $200.00 to donate to a local school or deserving student.

Each month the Auxiliary assists the AMVETS in maintaining the cemetery located at the intersection of Hwy 15A and Glenwood Road.  Flags are purchased and placed on each veteran’s grave for Veteran’s Day and Memorial Day.

Auxiliary volunteers clip, count and ship over 1000 coupons each month.  Coupons are sent overseas to our bases for use in the commissaries by our troops and their families.

We provide support either financial or otherwise to such organizations as John Tracy Clinic (hearing aids for children), Paws with a Cause (service dogs), Ronald McDonald House and Fisher House (both provide low cost facilities for families with members who are hospitalized) and Freedom Foundation (providing education to children on our great country).

Each year we try to raise $500.00 for our Special Needs Fund.  This money is used to help with emergency situations with members of our community (pay a doctor bill, pay a light bill etc.).
